Professors Settele and Essl of the Scientific Advisory Board of bayklif have once again been included in the list of “Highly Cited Researchers.”

The Bavarian Climate Research Network (bayklif) is proud to announce the international recognition of two members of its Scientific Advisory Board: Prof. Dr. Josef Settele, Chair of the Advisory Board, and Prof. Dr. Franz Essl, Advisory Board member, have once again been included in the prestigious “Highly Cited Researchers” list by Web of Science.

The list is based on the frequency with which scientific publications are cited and is considered a global indicator of researchers’ impact in their respective disciplines. Both scientists have earned an international reputation for their work in the fields of biodiversity and climate change and contribute significantly to ensuring the quality of bayklif’s research through their expertise.

As Chair of the Advisory Board and an expert in human-nature interactions, Prof. Dr. Josef Settele brings extensive experience to the committee’s work. His studies on pollinator declines, the consequences of biodiversity loss, and the impacts of climate change on ecosystems, as well as his contributions to the IPCC report, have significantly shaped scientific debate.

Prof. Dr. Franz Essl specializes in the impacts of invasive species and biodiversity loss due to climate change. His research provides valuable insights for the protection of endangered ecosystems and contributes to a deeper understanding of the consequences of climate change.

As Chair and member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Prof. Dr. Settele and Prof. Dr. Essl play a crucial role in evaluating the research projects funded by bayklif. Their renewed international recognition is a testament to their outstanding scientific excellence and ensures that bayklif’s research will continue to meet the highest standards of quality. The network takes an interdisciplinary approach to developing innovative solutions for the challenges posed by climate change—supported by the expertise of its Scientific Advisory Board.
