On 13.12.2022, the state parliament passed the new version of the Bavarian Climate Protection Act. With this law, Bavaria wants to become climate neutral by 2040 – five years earlier than the federal government. The new version of the law was triggered by a ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court, in which the judges in Karlsruhe – referring to the federal government – had demanded that more binding targets for the reduction of emissions be set in a climate protection law. As a result, Bavaria had also revised its law, which had been passed shortly before.
