Agriculture benefits from biodiversity

A new publication by Matteo Dainese (Eurac Research, Bozen), Emily Martin and Ingolf Steffan-Dewenter (Biocenter of the University of Würzburg) has come to alarming conclusions: Around 20% of the agricultural land worldwide yields less crop than 20 years ago. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), humans are to blame for this: They haven’t done enough to protect biodiversity.
